Change the Tag Selection Mode

Learn how to configure the filtering behavior when a tag is clicked — single or multiple selection.

Available on the Light Plan and above.

Difference Between Selection Modes

Multiple selection

Select multiple tags at the same time to narrow results. For example, clicking Tag B after selecting Tag A will filter for content that has both Tag A and Tag B.

Single selection

Only one tag can be selected at a time. Selecting a new tag deselects the previous one.

Setup

From the settings page (Light Plan and above — applies to all pages)

Open the RuffRuff Product & Blog Tags app
Click "Settings" in the left-hand menu
Select "Single" or "Multiple" under "Tag selection mode"
Click "Save"

From app blocks (Regular Plan only — configure per page)

Go to Shopify Admin → "Online Store" → "Themes" → "Customize"
Navigate to the page you want to configure (blogs or collections)
Click the "Tag list (Regular Plan)" app block to select it
Select "Single" or "Multiple" under "Tag selection mode" in the right sidebar
Click "Save"

App block settings take priority over the settings page.

FAQ

Can I set the tag selection mode on product or blog post pages?

No. On product and blog post pages, clicking a tag navigates to a new page, so the tag selection mode does not apply. This setting is available on blogs and collection pages only.

Which mode should I choose — Multiple or Single?

Use "Multiple" if you want visitors to combine multiple conditions when filtering. Use "Single" for a simpler experience where one category is shown at a time.
